The Professional Bio

I have 34 years of tax planning, financial planning, and investment management experience.

As a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor, I came out of the starting gates in 1987, six weeks before Black Monday.

In 1995, I became licensed to teach financial planning for organizations and corporations. I am a Certified Financial Education Instructor. I have taught classes for some of the largest companies in Colorado.

You may find me cited in several publications including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, U.S News and World Report, Market Watch, Business Insider, and The Simple Dollar.

One of my proudest moments was graduating from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. My greatest achievement has been founding Bloom Financial.

Where it All Began

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I became fascinated with the stock market at age 7 on a visit to Wall Street during a trip to New York. That night, we dined on Escargot, Filet of Sole, and Chocolate SoufflĆ©s with Vanilla CrĆØme Anglaise, at the famed Russian Tea Room. It was at that moment, I decided I was going to become a pro-chef. I fell in love with the magical flavours of classical cuisine.

At the age of 12, I graduated from my newspaper route. I began my professional career and went to work for the family Orange Julius Franchise.

The Personal Bio

I attended L.A. Valley College for Business Management and Psychology. In my free time, I taught snow skiing at Phil Gerard's Ski World in Encino, California. Teaching on the Magic Moving Endless Ski Slope was the experience of a lifetime. At night you could find me cooking at the Great American Food & Beverage Co. and Poppy's Star.

While I was teaching skiing, I discovered that I love helping people learn. To me, life is highly rewarding when guiding someone in ways that helps them improve their knowledge, skills, and confidence. Regardless of whether it's skiing, cooking, or finance.

The Family

I reside in the Denver/Boulder Area with my beautiful wife Amy, and our wonderful kids Aleah, and Jacob.

Volunteer 

After 9/11, I volunteered for three years at the Red Cross as a Media Relations Specialist. 

For six years, I was an Ambassador, Ski Guide and Host at Winter Park Resort, and at Copper Mountain.

In 2007, I started volunteering for a Boulder, Colorado faith based organization to support families who have lost a loved one.
